The story begins with Odd Squad—the trio of Devin the Dude, Rob Quest, and Jugg Mugg—who rose out of Houston’s ’90s rap scene with humor, soul, and weed-warm storytelling. As the era progressed, Odd Squad morphed into the Coughee Brothaz—a clique and extended family of artists, producers, and friends united by in-jokes, grooves, and the shared language of “Coughee.”

DJ Screw, the Demo, and Houston DNA

No Houston story is complete without DJ Screw, whose chopped-and-screwed approach rewired Southern hip-hop. Screw was the demo DJ for Odd Squad, embedding the crew in Houston’s deeper cultural current—slow tempo, rich storytelling, everyday life celebrated in sound.

Devin and the Cloud Committee

Coughee wasn’t built as a big-business licensing deal—it was developed by people who live hip-hop and cannabis culture. Manny and Vinny co-founded Seward Solutions and The Cloud Committee together with Devin. The Cloud Committee was originally founded as a California Prop 215 medical collective; it has since evolved into a brand development house and is now a co-creator of Coughee with Devin. Seward Solutions develops the brand’s fully sustainable packaging.
